McGrath targets Brisbane for growth with a focus on attracting new real estate talent
1 May 2023 – McGrath Estate Agents continues to add to its sales teams across its company owned Brisbane operations (Paddington, New Farm, Bulimba and Wilston) as it strategically focuses on growing its footprint in one of Australia’s most important real estate markets.
Troy Malcolm, National GM of Sales explains, “We are pleased to be attracting talent with aligned values and with a diverse skillset. As the property market has become challenging in the past year with multiple interest rate rises impacting consumer confidence, now more than ever we believe there will be a flight to quality. We want to have the very best people operating in the best interest of their clients with exceptional service and knowledge. No longer are agents starting their career straight from school, but they are bringing a lot of work-life experience from many other sectors and to us that is very appealing.
“With the ongoing success of our elite agents, we are also intent on providing a healthy balance of experience, enthusiasm and youth for the next generation sales professional. McGrath has long been recognised for its ability to educate and promote new talent; and as a result we’ve seen not only our elite teams grow but standalone agents approach us to realise their ambition of increasing productivity, and growing market share in their specialist areas,” Mr Malcolm said.
A total of eleven recruits have joined Brisbane’s company owned network this financial year.
McGrath’s No 1 Agent, Alex Jordan has added four to his team who he will work alongside:
- Zac and Elizabeth Ryan are highly experienced area specialists in the western suburbs from Chapel Hill through to Kenmore, Bellbowrie and out to Moggill.
- Marc Conias has diverse experience in commercial and residential sectors, he will specialise in West End and Highgate Hill.
- Diego Suarez will round out the team and will work closely with Mr Jordan and his buyer network.
Mr Jordan said, “Our business is very geographically focussed and therefore we aim to partner with the most proficient operators to better serve our communities and expand our reach. Whilst we give preference to those who have experience in the industry, our main focus when looking for a new team member is cultural alignment.”
Mr Jordan has seen his average Days on Market reduced from 28 to 14 in the last two weeks. “There is definitely improved buyer sentiment and while stock levels continue to remain tight, we are transacting more efficiently.” He points to his recent sale of a five-bedroom home on 756 sqm at 11 Bowaga Street Indooroopilly, achieving $2.195 million after multiple offers from only one inspection. “It sold to a local buyer seeking the highly sought-after area near the schools.”
Top performing agent Kelly Qualtrough has added Lincoln Tatnall to her team, who will service Everton Hills and Everton Park. “Lincoln is an area specialist so it was a natural fit for him to join my team as we growth our market share. I’m looking to grow my team with like-minded people who are culturally aligned with our vision for the future.”
McGrath Paddington has also recruited highly experienced independent agents Liliana Mauri (Red Hill, Paddington, Ashgrove) and Brady Hope (South Brisbane).
In addition, McGrath Bulimba’s Ben Cannon has expanded his team with Frank Lombardi and Jordan Trottemant who will focus on Balmoral, Bulimba, Hawthorne and Norman Park. They have hit the ground running achieving $7.325 million, the highest non riverfront sale for the area for a five-bedroom architecturally designed home at 44 Agnew Street Norman Park.
Nicholas Casey joins McGrath Wilton specializing in his local market of Alderley and Newmarket. With a deep interest in architecture and design trends, he brings an added depth of knowledge for his vendors.
Mr Malcolm reiterates “We are focusing on recruiting professional teams that reflect dynamic and diverse experience and we believe that our clients will benefit accordingly.”
