History
Nestled in the Tweed River estuary, Banora Point occupies one of the most beautiful spots on the NSW east coast. Colonial settlers first arrived in the area around Banora Point to participate in the timber trade. Incredibly fertile, much of the land around Banora Point was heavily forested and by the early 1800s small logging camps were scattered throughout the area. As the region’s cedar forests were cleared farms - particularly dairy farms - became increasingly common. The area around Banora Point remained agricultural throughout the nineteenth century and it wasn’t until the twentieth century that Banora Point took shape. Today, Banora Point is an appealing suburb, dotted with parks and reserves. A relaxed, laidback suburb within easy reach of Tweed Heads, it offers residents the best of both worlds: in Banora Point, you have effortless access to services and amenities in the Tweed Heads CBD, along with the glorious beaches and bushland that characterise the Tweed Coast.
