Part of the St George region south of Sydney, Brighton-Le-Sands offers a relaxed, beachside lifestyle for locals and a weekend getaway for Sydney residents. The area sits adjacent to James Cook’s historic landing point in Botany Bay, and is within close proximity to the Sydney Domestic and International Airports, Sydney CBD and a plethora of beautiful beach strips.

Originally, Brighton-Le-Sands was named New Brighton after the seaside location of Brighton, England. In 1885, early settler Thomas Saywell constructed a tramway from Rockdale to Lady Robinson Beach and financed the local public swimming baths, a large picnic area, racecourse and the Brighton Hotel – currently the site of the Novotel Hotel Brighton Beach. It was a huge success and in order to avoid confusion with the Brighton’s namesake in England, the area was named Brighton-Le-Sands.

Today, along with its enviable beachside views and bustling café culture, Brighton-Le-Sands offers residents private and public schools including Brighton-Le-Sands Public, Rockdale Public, Kyeemagh Infants School, St Thomas Moore, St Dominic Savio and St Joseph’s Primary Schools. The main shopping precinct is located along Bay Street and extends to the much-loved foreshore on The Grand Parade, featuring a supermarket, post office, numerous banks and a selection of clothing and jewellery stores, hairdressers and medical services.

Brighton-Le-Sands’ modern beach culture and convenient city-fringe location makes it one of the most promising buying areas available, for both families and young professionals.
