June 12, 2007 – Sydney – Leading property group, McGrath Estate Agents, has further cemented its reputation as a technological innovator with the launch of mobile tours for all its properties. Consumers can now send a text message (SMS) containing a property’s unique code and immediately receive up to four images and further information on that property on their mobile handsets for just 55c per message.
Unique property codes and the SMS number will be displayed on signboards and on property webpages on McGrath's award-winning website, mcgrath.com.au.
Consumers who request a mobile tour will receive an MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) containing up to four photos; the address; price; bedrooms, bathrooms and car parking; sale method; the agent's contact details and the property's weblink.
Consumers can then carry the information on their mobile phones or Blackberry PDAs, removing the need for print-outs and conveniently providing them with information in a fast, portable, electronic format. They can also forward it to others.
This technology is compatible with more than 85% of mobile handsets that have been in the market for less than five years. Customers may need to have their MMS facility switched on, which takes about two minutes. McGrath advises consumers to contact their service provider to request this.
McGrath's mobile tour facility complements its recent introduction of iPod downloading on its website. In an exclusive partnership with Apple, McGrath now offers consumers the opportunity to create and download a specific criteria-based podcast of properties from its website onto their iPods at no charge.
McGrath Chief Executive, John McGrath, said technology was playing an increasingly significant role in real estate marketing in Australia and around the world.
"The internet is the Number 1 marketing tool in Australian real estate today," Mr McGrath said. "Serious buyers are using the internet first, and sometimes solely, to look for new property."
"We introduced the iPod facility because we recognised that consumers wanted information faster and in a convenient, portable and electronic format. The mobile tours are an extension of this. These two important technology advances are helping McGrath agents market our clients' properties more effectively than ever before."
"McGrath has always been at the cutting edge of technology and we're proud to offer our clients these new services, in addition to our award-winning website."
mcgrath.com.au has been recognised as the country’s best real estate website with two prestigious awards – the 2006 Real Estate Institute of NSW Best Website Award and the 2007 Real Estate Institute of Australia Communications Award.
McGrath launched its new website in June 2006 and introduced a world-first lifestyle property search function allowing consumers to search for property according to lifestyle needs and wants, such as "short walk to the beach" and "within 10 minute drive to the CBD", along with the usual criteria of price, location and bedrooms.
