Leading residential real estate group McGrath Estate Agents announced today the company will further expand its presence along the Balmain Peninsula as they welcome and merge the highly respected local agency, Sarah Lorden Real Estate, into their group.
McGrath Balmain is a satellite to the company-owned Leichhardt office, already a dominant force in the inner west, transacting a record $590 million in real estate last financial year.
McGrath Chief Executive John McGrath said the expansion into the Balmain Peninsula with the Lorden sisters was an exciting opportunity to merge with a highly successful local independent agency that shared the same philosophies of sales excellence and customer service focus.
“Sarah and Kate have worked in the area for 17 years and have created an outstanding brand with a loyal local clientele. There is a strong synergy between our two companies and I have great pleasure in welcoming them into our team. We believe customers will benefit as we combine our extensive client databases with expertise in sales, marketing, technology and training.”
Mr. McGrath predicted there to be a continued consolidation and pooling of outstanding talent within the industry.
He said the expansion had been prompted by demand from healthy buyer activity in the region as clients were increasingly looking for larger family homes or empty nesters downsizing for lifestyle reason.
“We have been working in this region for more than 14 years and the McGrath brand is well recognised and respected,” said Mr McGrath. “However, with the excellent buying opportunities in areas such as Balmain, Balmain East, Birchgrove and Rozelle, we believe that a stronger local presence will resonate with the community.”
Mr. McGrath said that he regarded the Balmain Peninsula as one of the most attractive and desirable lifestyle regions within close proximity to Sydney’s CBD, with excellent commuter access via the Anzac Bridge, regular bus and ferry services.
“It has all of the necessary infrastructure, cafes, parklands, recreational amenities, trendy village atmosphere and easy access to Sydney Harbour that will contribute to its increasing popularity among young professionals and families.”
McGrath Balmain will have a team of 30 as it provides sales, property management and home loans to its clientele. At the forefront will be Sarah and Kate Lorden. Kate who will be Licensee in Charge, will focus on sales, new business and property management. Sarah as Associate Director, will remain as a sales agent, allowing her to continue with her passion for excellence in sales and customer service without the distraction of operational management.
Kate Lorden said that she and Sarah were excited about the new partnership and saw it as a progression of their own careers.
“We have long admired McGrath’s approach to marketing, training and technology. For a customer-centric business such as ours, we were attracted to their systems and management which will free us up to concentrate on a closer interaction with our customers.”
Sarah Lorden said the broad reach of mcgrath.com.au and the wide distribution of the McGrath magazine will give their vendors a unique ability to reach buyers beyond the immediate locality, “and for us that it really exciting.”
McGrath Leichhardt and Sarah Lorden both have an excellent track record having achieved several top sales in the area. Notable McGrath sales include $5.6 million for an 5 bedroom, unrennovated non waterfront at 1 Ballast Point Road, Birchgrove $3.125 million for a 3 bedroom waterfront at 116 Louise Road, Birchgrove. Notable Sarah Lorden sales include $6.3 million for a 3 bedroom waterfront at 104 Louisa Road, Birchgrove; $4.412 million for a 4 bedroom waterfront at 2 Broderick Street, Balmain.
McGrath General Manager of Sales for company owned offices, Matt Lahood, said the merging of a handpicked team will allow current and future clients to take advantage of the larger database and wider talent pool across all price segments.
