James Dack is a licensed real estate agent and the Sales Director of McGrath Estate Agents. Recognised as one of the most successful real estate agents in Australia, he was one of the founding members of McGrath Estate Agents back in its humble beginnings of 1989. Since then, he has continued to be an integral part of the dynamic growth of the company and has been their number one sales person for the past 19 years. In 1992, James was selected as one of the nine most successful agents in Australia awarded by REI of Australia and in 2004 James won the prestigious REI of NSW Award for Excellence in Residential Sales. In 2007, The REI of NSW bestowed James with one of its highest honours - the John Greig OAM Community Service Award. James is the only person in Australia to have won both the coveted residential sales award and the prestigious John Greig community service award from the Real Estate Institute of New South Wales.
Living locally in Sydney’s east, James’ expertise and knowledge of this domain is clearly established. During his career he has facilitated sales of quality homes and apartments throughout the eastern suburbs - from Paddington, Woollahra, to Point Piper, Darling Point and extending to Tamarama, Bronte, Clovelly and North Randwick. Despite an ever-changing market, he consistently sets high standards and achieves record results, selling an average of over $200m in property per year with prices ranging from $1m - $20m. James currently holds the highest price record in three Sydney suburbs, Woollahra, Paddington and Coogee. James has recently claimed the Australian record for the most expensive home to be sold at a Saturday onsite auction for 3 St Mervyns Avenue, Point Piper which sold for $17.3m.
James thrives on the competitive nature of real estate and has an innate ability to maximise the value of a client’s most valuable asset within the most challenging of market conditions. Remaining calm and focussed, even under extreme pressure, he maintains a sensitive and confidential approach in all his business dealings. With a successful track record behind him, it’s not surprising he has an impressive list of local and international clients and is one of the most reputable and highly regarded agents in the industry.
An active member of the broader eastern suburbs community, James has been very much involved in the Police and Community Youth Club movement over the last 20 years and as President of the Woolloomooloo City of Sydney PCYC for the last 8 years. He was recently presented Life Governor Award from the PCYC movement in recognition of his service, as well as receiving in 2008 a special award presented by the Police Commissioner. The highly esteemed award "Champion for Youth" has only been bestowed on three other occasions including the Police Commissioner himself. James has been appointed to the board of directors of the Police and Community Youth Clubs with business leaders such as Nicholas Moore and Deputy Police Commissioner Nick Kaldas.
He is a member of the Tattersalls Club, the AJC, Sydney Football Stadium and a patron to the Bell Shakespeare Company. Over the past ten years, he has also helped raise over $2 million for various charities and institutions. These include Clean up the World, Royal Blind Society, Juvenile Diabetes, Starlight Foundation, Royal Hospital for Women, Breast Cancer, Mercy Family Centre, Australian National Maritime Museum, SCEGGS Darlinghurst, Sport & Tourism Youth Foundation, Friends of the Family, Odyssey House, Childrens Medical Institute, RSPCA and Youth Off the Streets.

"When I moved to Sydney in late 2010 to take up the position of Managing Director of the Nine Network, I was introduced to James Dack by a senior colleague at Nine. After renting initially, I sought the assistance of James to source and help me secure a property in the Eastern Beaches, more specifically Bondi Beach. I am happy to say that the referral to James resulted in him locating an ideal property in Notts Avenue, which I have now settled and moved into. I was delighted with the service, very satisfied with my purchase and I would not hesitate to recommend James to anyone looking to sell or purchase a prestige property, particularly as my experience demonstrates, in the boutique Notts Avenue Bondi Beach, precinct." Jeffrey Browne, Managing Director Nine Network Australia
"People kept telling me I should have a woman sell my house. My experience with you has confirmed my belief that it is not the gender that matters but the qualities of the people involved. I felt you and Ben appreciated my home and my feelings about things in general as much as any woman would. I also felt you had the necessary drive to bring to a good conclusion - in other words all the so-called 'masculine' and 'feminine' qualities were there at the right time. Thank you for ringing about my new apartment. I think it had my name on it and was very reassuring to have Ben's capable presence ensuring that it happened."

"Selling a family home can be a challenging period in ones life and my family and I appreciate the sensitive and discreet manner in which you set about the task. In my observations, sales are about strategy, marketing, persuasive selling and auctioneering, you and your team have done an excellent job in all of these areas. I acknowledge the support, time, effort and energy that was provided througout the process and the professional manner in which all aspects of the sale were handled, and finally, the result which exceeded our highest expectations - Well Done!”
