Formerly a sales consultant with McGrath Estate Agents in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs before relocating to the Gold Coast in 2002, Duncan is a proud member of the McGrath team and is delighted to have the opportunity to make his mark in the company’s first Queensland office. “I started work with McGrath in Sydney’s East back in 1996. When I received the call that McGrath was opening on the Gold Coast, it felt like going home,” he says.
Duncan’s focus is on unique and exclusive properties from the beachfront to the riverfront and canals. Throughout his real estate career on the Gold Coast, Duncan has made many significant sales in his areas of expertise, namely Main Beach, Paradise Waters, Chevron Island and Southport. In 2010 he sold the highest priced home in the exclusive Surfers Waters building for $1.6 million and has achieved highest sales prices in additional buildings including Admiral North, De Ville and Park Lane. He also brokered a $5.5 million dollar sale on Mermaid Beach’s ultra-exclusive beachfront street Hedges Avenue.
In the real estate industry since 1992, Duncan now considers himself a Gold Coast local and is thrilled to belong to the community here. “You could say that I live and work the lifestyle of the area.” He loves the waterfront lifestyle and the fact that the Gold Coast is an international destination with a great mix of people from interstate and overseas. “I enjoy the opportunity to network with clients and successful business people, thinking outside the square to fill their brief,” says Duncan. “I thrive on the negotiating process and the ability to get buyers and sellers to transact and come to a mutually beneficial outcome.”
Duncan is a property enthusiast from way back. He has an immense appreciation for architecture and the aesthetic beauty of a home. “It’s great when you discover something architecturally interesting or unique about a property that makes it a pleasure to market. I always try to empathise with my clients’ situations and put myself in their shoes, delivering tailored solutions to both buyers and sellers.”
As a testament to Duncan’s standing within the industry, his client list has included many high profile celebrities, politicians and captains of industry. He has also written for several magazines and was the property writer for Polo Magazine.
